Tarot is a Mirror… Not a Monster
If you are a tarot reader or someone who has had a tarot reading, you may have heard these common myths from friends and family: Tarot is evil! Tarot is from the devil. Tarot is against my religion. Back in the day, when organized religion was feeling a little territorial, anything even remotely mystical got slapped with the “evil” label. Crystal healing? The Devil’s work! Astrology? Sinful. Burning sage? Might as well be throwing a party for Satan himself!
Contrary to popular belief, tarot isn’t about controlling your fate or summoning dark forces. It’s more like a cosmic pep talk - sometimes blunt and sometimes uplifting. Tarot isn’t here to possess your soul. It’s here to reflect your own wisdom back to you. Tarot doesn’t demand you believe in anything specific - it’s not a religion but a tool. Like a journal, a mirror, or that one brutally honest friend who tells it like it is. If your beliefs say not to mess with the tarot, that’s fine. But calling it evil because it’s unfamiliar? That’s like judging sushi before you even try it - you might miss out on something delicious! If someone tells you tarot is from the devil, just smile and say, “The only thing evil here is your misinformation.” Tarot is about empowerment, not fear. If you are still worried it’s too “woo-woo,” the tarot won’t take it personally. It will be here when you are ready to pull a card and have a chat with the universe.
